Catalyst worked with Research Design Office lead by Brook Meier to help conceive of a multi-use complex for a design competition in Mumbai, India. The ask was to design a museum of science and industry on a challenging site. Our team's approach was based on the inclusion of other programmatic elements that could create an income stream able to inject the museum=-based business model with more revenue. (typically a model that resides in the red and is dependent on government help or wealthy donors). We added program elements that are typically more revenue positive, including a hotel and convention center each designed to leverage the fun and engaging aspects of a science and industry museum..
Catalyst, assisted by two other consultants, worked in Milwaukee while Research Design Office worked in India. Aggregate carried out all visualization renders and diagrams, as well as, helped formulate major design moves and overall concept formation. Research Design Office acted in more of a creative director role.
This is another example of a great experience to partner with a super talented agency (and designer Brook Meier) to extend their design services (that were already taxed with other projects). Together we were able to create something that as individual teams could have never carried out - at least of the level we wanted.
