Design Philosophy

The act of designing requires a process-based mentality where one evolves an idea through collecting information, learning, making, collaboration, and intuition. As a designer I am creative problem solver, a spatial thinker, a design entrepreneur, a visual artist and collaborator.

I  must foster the ability to observe, gather, abstract and utilize information around me in order to understand how to create valuable and memorable experiences, orchestrate movement and curate a client's vision and overall experience of a space or place. Weather that experience is a few hours long or a lifetime.

I believe I am:

a Futurist who must anticipate how I will respond to global and human conditions and relish and embrace change.

a Translator who must understand how a need for human experience can become a curated space or place that supports and elevates our everyday memories and impressions of the world.

a Generalist who must understand how people of all diversity engage with memory, spaces and experiences.

a Collaborator who must acknowledge the role of other disciplines, designers and clients in the creation of creative experiences & spaces.

an Entrepreneur who must not forget that design has value- it is not free.

and most importantly -

I am Curious- the trait that seeks and gathers information for learning, as well as, promotes tenacity – the desire to keep evolving and refining ideas.

I am Creative- which relies on curiosity, asking questions and challenging preconceived notions. It is the ability to produce solutions to problems that arise in the design process & design realiziation.

I hold Convictions which require a designer (and clients) to know ourselves. Strong convictions bring passion into the design process and ultimately into the experiences and spaces I help design.
